Surendranath Centenary School celebrated 'Invictus', its Annual Sports Day Cum Annual Prize Distribution, with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium, Morabadi, Ranchi on 18 January 2026. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs Sandhya Rani Mehta, IPS, DIG Budget, and the Guest of Honour, Col. Ravi Kant Kushwaha, Commanding Officer, 6/8 Gorkha Rifles. The programme witnessed the gracious presence of parents, teachers and well-wishers, who encouraged the participants throughout the event. The programme began with the arrival of the dignitaries, followed by a melodious Welcome Song. This was followed by an impressive March Past by the four Houses, reflecting discipline, coordination and team spirit. The school magazine Expressions was formally released, followed by the presentation of the Annual Report by the Madam Principal, highlighting the school’s academic, co-curricular and sporting achievements during the academic session 2025–2026. The cultural segment witnessed vibrant field displays with mass participation. The programme included 'Wild Safar' by Balvatika, the energetic presentation 'Chak De India' by Classes I and II, 'Rainbow Chasers' by Classes VI to VIII, and 'Emoji Wonders' by Classes III to V. The graceful performance 'Stride for Pride' by the girls of Classes IX to XII and the energetic display 'Unity in Motion' by the boys of Classes IX to XII drew loud applause. The audience was also mesmerised by the serene Yoga – Aadhyatmik Sadhna and the powerful Karate – Empty Hand demonstration by students of Classes III to VI. The field displays were followed by the much-awaited athletic events, which included Ready for School, Skipping Race, Spoon and Lemon Race, Three-Legged Race, Obstacle Race and Balancing the Book, along with track events such as the 100 m Race, 200 m Race, 400 m Race and 4×100 m Relay Race. Students participated with commendable zeal and sportsmanship, making the sporting events a grand success. In her address, the Chief Guest emphasised the importance of sports in a student’s life, stating that sports instil resilience, discipline and teamwork while teaching students to face challenges bravely, accept defeat with grace and celebrate success with humility. She further motivated the students by highlighting that success is not achieved overnight but is the outcome of consistent effort, determination and self-belief. Achievers in academics, co-curricular and sports activities were honoured during the Prize Distribution ceremony. The coveted Ranadeb Chaudhuri Award, Mira Chaudhuri Award and Amala Goswami Award were also presented on the occasion. Special prizes were awarded to teachers in recognition of excellent board results and their consistent dedication and regularity. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, bringing Invictus to a dignified close.
