National Mathematics day was celebrated in Surendranath Centenary School. It was a week long celebration to pay tribute to the great mathematician Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan on his birthday, 22nd December. It is a nation wide aim to raise awareness among the people about the importance of Mathematics and how it can be used in the development of the society. A talk show and fancy dress on Indian Mathematicians was organized by the junior wing of the school, few other events were followed by them like Display of Maths models and special assembly. Various class activities were also organised by the Maths Club like Origami, Crossword puzzles, paper designs on symmetry etc. Students of VI to X enjoyed different activities like Fun with symmetry, Games with angles, Rangoli with mathematical designs and Sudoku whereas XI/XII participated in Quiz. A very interesting event was presented by the students of IX /X in the assembly, " Who am I ?" Madam Principal Samita Sinha explained the concept of right brain and left brain to the students and said that one should listen to one's heart and make fair decisions in life regarding making a choice to pursue their dreams. Every profession has it's own importance and one must not feel low or dejected if not interested in Maths,the interested ones must contribute to the society like Sir Ramanujan.
