The Sports Club of Surendranath Centenary School observed World Olympic Day with great enthusiasm and participation from students of all classes. The celebration began with an Olympic pledge taken by the entire school. A speech on the importance of the Olympics was delivered by students of the Junior Wing. Younger students then designed medals, created Olympic rings using hand and thumb prints, and participated in a march for Olympics. A documentary on the history of Modern Olympics and games played was screened. In the Senior Wing, students took part in a cycle rally to promote health and endurance. Competitions in volleyball, basketball, and shot put were conducted to encourage sportsmanship and teamwork. Madam Principal Samita Sinha said, The Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect must be imbibed by students in every sphere of life. Such events nurture discipline, unity and a lifelong passion for sports.
